Build Chicken Coops for Easy Maintenance

One of the biggest obstacles when keeping a Chicken Coops is cleaning it. Some people do not build their Cages with ease of maintenance in mind. But you can learn from there mistakes, and ensure that your coop will be easy to clean in the past. One very important suggestion is to make sure the floor of the coop is sloped downward toward the main door. When you wash the interior of the coop, the water will automatically drain outside, instead of puddling in the middle.

Ensure sufficient Space

Do not hesitate on the size of your chicken coop. Chickens that live in smallsized chicken house resort to abnormal pecking and even cannibalism. You do not want this!. So if you have a coop holding 10 chickens, 40 square feet will be ample room for your chickens to grow, feed, and produce.

Both climate and predators can attack on your coop, so build it with these usefultips in mind. Build the coop on a high area with ample drainage and locate it facing the sunlight. In the event that it rains, this location will not only ensure that the coop does not get flooded, but that it dries quickly when the sun comes out. Build the doors with proper strength mesh steel wire. Believe it or not, this step is one of the primary common mistakes people make when building their coop. Without the proper strength, your iron mesh wire will torn to even the smallest of predators, allowing them easy access to your chickens.

Here are the important points your chicken houses plans should cover,

Find a good available space of land

Finding the right location to build your chicken houses  will be  important because it’s this that helps keep your coop maintaining itself over the years.  You want a piece of land that has a slight elevation since this will also prevent the coop from becoming flooded later on if water starts accumulating during a heavy rainfall. Steps on Building Chicken Coops

Some of the steps tips are considered while chicken farming

Appearance of the coop

First of all sketch the design of the coop. It’s not just the construction of the coop but also the use of materials in building the coops. Moreover the coops should have an aesthetic design.

Protection of coops from hazards

Your coop must be constructed in a way that it should be protected from hazardous elements like wind, rain, fog, hale, etc., and from the cunning predators.

The coop should protect the chicken from being stolen. The coop should be protected from draft with windows that can be opened and shut, having proper  system, for example, a heavy gauge mesh wire.

Drainage system should be necessary where rain water may flow out keeping the coop dry. And positioning of the coop is also important, place it in an area where it gets the Sun which will keep the chickens warm and dry.

Ventilation of the coop

Maintain proper ventilation inside the coop, allowing free air movement throughout. The chickens inside the coop are quite safe with cold being kept out, but at the same time they would need air to breathe. It is very necessary that the carbon dioxide accumulating inside your chicken coop be removed regularly replaced by fresh air in order that the chickens can breathe.

Lighting

Consider an electrical light source which will help the chickens produce great eggs all the year round. This light could easily be installed at the height of the chicken coop’s ceiling, and this would help in keeping the chickens warm and lay better eggs through-out the year.

Feeders and waters

Chose the right location inside the coop to place the feeders. Check that the feeders should be easily access to the chickens. Try and place the feeders at the back of the chicken at a height where the chickens have to stretch their necks to eat and would not be able to reach the feeders with their feet.
